Kaikohe residents are being asked to have a say on how a very popular park and playground in the town will be managed and used in the future.
Community events that provide opportunities for whānau to connect, enjoy local entertainment, and celebrate this festive season and beyond were the focus of funding approvals by Far North community boards at their November meetings.
Far North, Whangarei and Kaipara district councils have confirmed the formation of a new Elected Member Steering Group (EMSG) at recent council meetings. The group will provide regional leadership for the establishment of Northland’s new water organisation.
A number of properties in Kaikohe will be impacted by a planned water outage tomorrow (Wednesday 10 December) as part of water and wastewater infrastructure upgrade works.
Far North District Council will be running reduced services over the Christmas and New Year period, although call centre staff will be on duty all day, every day as normal.
**UPDATE – Sun 7 December:
Daily testing has provided the required three days of clear results to enable the Boil Water Notice to be lifted. We will investigate the cause of the isolated result in the coming days and thank you for your vigilance and for following the precautionary measures over the past few days.
We confirm there is no further requirement to boil water and that the Notice has been lifted.
A boil water notice is in place for households and businesses connected to the council’s Paihia-Ōpua-Waitangi supply as of 2pm today (Thursday 4 December). The notice applies to properties in Paihia, Ōpua, Waitangi, Te Haumi and Haruru.
If you still haven’t yet registered your dog this year, you may be one of the more than 2300 Far North dog owners about to receive an infringement fee of $300 plus registration costs.
