Road maintenance highlighted in new webpage

The Far North is home to 2508km of district roads all of which require regular maintenance and improvement.

To help keep residents informed of the road maintenance and to improve transparency, the council is now publishing weekly reports on its website produced by our roading contractors, Fulton Hogan and Ventia.

These reports both present two columns – works completed the previous week and those planned for the coming week – on road grading, drainage work, sealed and unsealed repairs, and much more. Each road where work is planned is listed, so you can easily check what’s happening on the routes you use each week.

As always, work like this is weather dependent, and may also be subject to the availability of staff, materials and equipment. If contractors don’t get to your road as promised, it will normally be reallocated to the following week. New reports will be added to the page each week.

The council is working with contractors on new and better ways to keep customers informed of its road maintenance programme via its website.
