Three community groups were granted a share of more than $20,000 in funding from Te Hiku Community Board at its 12 December meeting.
**UPDATE 6 Jan**
The all-clear has been given for beachgoers to again swim and collect shellfish at the north end of Tokerau Beach, Whatuwhiwhi.
Daily testing following a wastewater spill at the beach on 2 January show that water quality has returned to normal, and signs warning users not to swim or collect shellfish will be removed.
Boaties visiting the Bay of Islands are being reminded to make the most of a ‘pop-up’ rubbish and recycling centre being trialled at Kororāreka Russell Wharf before the service closes this weekend.
