Updated property values due in April
The final step in officially approving the council’s updated property values for rating purposes is expected in mid-April.
Certification of the Far North District Council’s 2025 General Property Revaluation is the final step in a legal process where councils are required to revalue all properties in their district to ensure property rates are distributed based on recent valuation data.
Certification requires the Office of the Valuer General (OVG) to audit the process followed, and confirm the new values meet national quality standards. Revaluation and certification of property values happen every three years.
An additional quality‑assurance review by the OVG to ensure consistency and accuracy across property values, before they are finalised, has extended normal timeframes for the process.
Valuation notices will be posted or emailed to property owners once the revaluation has been completed and certified. Property owners can object to their valuation once notices are issued.
Far North District Council and its valuation service provider, Quotable Value, are working closely to progress the review work and manage timeframes.
Further updates will be provided on our website here and updated valuations will be factored into FNDC property rates effective from 1 July.
