Emergency culvert replacement to close Duncan Road
Duncan Road will be closed tomorrow (27 February) as contractors carry out emergency culvert replacement works near 1358 Duncan Road.
Contractors, Fulton Hogan, will undertake the urgent repairs after significant damage to the existing culvert caused a large tomo to form on the inlet side. A tomo is a deep hole or cavity in the ground, often created when soil collapses into an underground void.
To keep road users and work crews safe, a section of Duncan Road just west of Metcalfe Road will be closed between 8.30am and 3.30pm while the replacement is completed.
Motorists are asked to use alternative routes during this time.
The work is being prioritised to prevent further deterioration of the road and surrounding ground, and to restore the integrity of the culvert system as quickly as possible.
