Brakes go on roadworks for festive period

Motorists can look forward to smoother journeys over the festive period with Far North roading projects taking a holiday.

From midday on Friday 20 December to midnight on Sunday 5 January, no roading work will be carried out, with all traffic management signs and equipment removed. For long-term projects, equipment and signage will be reduced as far as possible to keep the district moving.

The halt to works on the Far North District roading network over Christmas and New Year aims to reduce traffic disruption and congestion and ensure the safety of all road users during the busy festive period.

Thousands of visitors are expected to head to the Far North to enjoy our beautiful beaches and forests and catch up with whānau.

Locals and visitors should always drive to the conditions, ensure vehicles are roadworthy, and use a sober driver so everyone gets to where they want to be safely this summer.
