The flag at the council headquarters in Kaikohe will be flown at half-mast tomorrow (Thursday 29 February) to mark the funeral of Fa’anānā Efeso Collins, the Green Party Member of Parliament and former Auckland Mayoral candidate.
Mr Collins passed away suddenly while taking part in a charity event in Auckland last Wednesday 21 February. The 49-year-old leaves behind his wife Fia and their two daughters.
The Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Paul Goldsmith requested that all government and public buildings fly flags at half-mast to mark the day.
Mr Collins’ funeral is being conducted in Ōnehuga and a public service celebrating his life will be held in Manukau at midday on Thursday. A large crowd is expected.
