Te Tii Marae Waitangi next in whenua Māori hui series

Whenua Māori owners, whānau, and all those with an interest in the preservation and development of whenua Māori are invited to attend a hui at Te Tii Marae, Waitangi on Saturday 7 June.
The hui will be the latest in a series that has been held around the district since November 2024. The aim is to provide a space for whānau to access practical advice and support around the long-term stewardship of whenua Māori - a taonga tuku iho, a treasure to be passed on through generations.
About the hui
The hui will feature presentations from Far North District Council and Te Kooti Whenua Māori (Māori Land Court). Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from these organisations one-on-one. These personalised conversations have proven to be a highlight of previous hui, providing tailored advice that supports whānau with their specific whenua aspirations.
Charlie Billington, Group Manager – Corporate Services, says the hui continue to share valuable information and strengthen connections between the council and whenua Māori owners.
“Feedback from our previous sessions has been very positive. We’re excited to keep these conversations going.”
This event follows the success of previous whenua Māori hui in Ahipara, Whatuwhiwhi, Panguru and Moerewa.
