Easter and ANZAC double-whammy holiday

Easter doesn’t usually fall this late in the calendar and this year ANZAC Day (25 April) is hot on its heels, delivering a ‘double whammy’ of public holidays for many.

As a result, many council services will be operating with reduced hours during the almost back-to-back holidays.

Far North service centres and libraries

Council libraries and service centres across the Far North will be:

  • closed from Good Friday 18 April to Easter Monday 21 April
  • open with normal hours on Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23, and Thursday 24 April
  • closed on Friday 25 April (ANZAC Day).

Library customers wanting to stock up on Easter holiday reading should visit one of six libraries before the holiday starts, but bear in mind there is wet and windy weather predicted by the MetService for later this week.

Our-eLibrary resources will be accessible throughout the holidays with a range of online books, magazines and movie streaming services available.

Isite visitor information centres

All Far North isite visitor information centres will operate their usual hours over Easter and ANZAC Day holidays. The Bay of Islands isite in Paihia is open from 8am to 5pm, while Kaitāia and Hokianga isites open from 8.30am to 5pm. For more information go to Visitor-information-centres.

Customers with enquiries can call us on 0800 920 029 at any time during the holidays.
