Water outage planned for Kaikohe upgrades

A number of properties in Kaikohe will be impacted by a planned water outage tomorrow (Wednesday 10 December) as part of water and wastewater infrastructure upgrade works.

The outage is scheduled to take place between 9am and 2.30pm, affecting Williams Avenue, Ōmāpere Road, Fuller Place, Ormonde Place, Windsor Road, Hillcrest Road, and Fairview Road.

During the shutdown, residents should ensure all taps are off if you leave your property and refrain from using hot water taps until the water supply is restored. If there is any water discolouration once the water is back on, run an external tap until it runs clear.

The upgrade to Kaikohe’s two key reticulation systems – underground pipes for water and wastewater connections – will enable new housing in the town and improve services.

The project is supported by a multi-million-dollar investment from the government’s Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF). The government’s investment in Kaikohe and potentially a similar project in Kawakawa is possible through a co-funding partnership with Far North District Council.
