Landslip repairs to close Duncan Road for over five weeks

Essential roadworks to stabilise a landslip-prone section of Duncan Road in Fairburn will see the route fully closed for over five weeks starting Monday 26 May. The repairs are necessary to maintain the long-term safety and integrity of the road.

The work, scheduled from 26 May through to 3 July 2025, will involve the construction of a 3-metre-high gabion wall to retain the embankment and reduce the risk of further erosion. Local contractors, OS Construction, will be delivering the project, which includes vegetation clearance, deep excavation, the installation of erosion controls and improved drainage.

To ensure worker and public safety, Duncan Road will be closed to all traffic during key phases of the works. However, limited access will be available before 8:30am and after 5:30pm daily. Traffic management plans will be in place, and detours will be clearly marked to guide motorists around the site. The detour around the work on Duncan Road is Fisher Riley Road and Fairburn Road.

Residents have been made aware of the works with a letter drop that was delivered earlier this month.
