We maintain a range of facilities for Far North residents and visitors, including playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools, walkways and reserves. We also own and maintain toilets, wharves and pontoons, cemeteries, libraries, community halls and housing for the elderly.

A wrap up of council Christmas opening hours

13 December 2024

Far North District Council will be running reduced services over the Christmas and New Year period, with most reopening on Monday 6 January 2025.

Kaikohe, Kaitāia (Te Ahu), Kerikeri, Kāeo, Rāwene, and Kawakawa service centres will close at 5pm on Friday 20 December, reopening on Monday 6 January 2025. For any urgent inquiries, phone 09 401 5200 or 0800 920 029.

Applications for LIM reports that were received up to 5pm on Thursday 5 December will be issued by Thursday 19 December. Any applications received after that date will be issued after Friday 10 January 2024.

The last day for building inspections is Wednesday 18 December and bookings for new inspections can be made from Monday 6 January 2025.
