Let’s talk about alcohol in our community

Far North District Council is asking people across the Far North to share their thoughts on the selling and consumption of alcohol in our communities.

The council’s aim is to support safe responsible drinking and reduce alcohol-related harm in our communities and district. Your insights will help us review where alcohol free / wāhi waipiro kore areas apply and also develop a Local Alcohol Policy.

🔹 Alcohol free areas: These are public places where alcohol is banned to keep our spaces safe and help prevent crime. We're reviewing the 23 current wāhi waipiro kore areas and asking whether new locations should be added.

🔹 Local Alcohol Policy (LAP): Your feedback will help guide decisions about where licensed premises can operate, what trading hours apply, and whether limits should be placed on the number or type of licences operating in different parts of our district.
