The Pitch

So, you’ve got your team sorted but here’s where the rubber meets the road. Once your team is formed, you will need to meet before our event on 6 August to:

  • Identify a local problem you want to solve – this can be anything you think is affecting our Far North rohe!
  • Create your idea or solution - think about how you can tell the story of your idea
  • Create a short five-minute presentation for your pitch

Each team will be given five minutes to pitch their idea on the day. This can be shared by one person or the whole team (we think the more the better!). You will also have time on the day to refine and practise your pitch.

What is the Pitch?

You will present an innovative idea for a solution to a friendly panel – think Dragon’s Den vibes.

  • You can use slides or any format that helps bring your idea to life (PowerPoint, mock-ups… get creative).
  • Notes are totally fine to use.
  • You don’t have to physically build your idea – but if you want to, go for it!

This is all about your thinking, your storytelling, and how confidently you share your idea.

💡Themes

Your idea can focus on a specific theme or problem. We’ve provided a list of suggestions to help spark ideas.

These are guides only – you’re welcome to choose one or more from the list or solve any issue that matters to you.

👤 Team roles

Having a team where people contribute in different ways will make your idea stronger.

We’ve added some suggestions for roles that you could play in your team below. Everyone in your team can play one or more roles. You don’t need to fit into just one – mix it up based on your strengths and interests.
