Doggone Tags
Doggone is a new system for reuniting lost dogs and from 1 July 2026 when you register your dog with FNDC you can opt in to receive this service. It's free. Just tick the Doggone box when registering your dog.

From 1 July 2026, those who opt in to receive the free Doggone service will receive a dog registration tag with a unique number. This gives you the reassurance that if your dog goes missing, there is a system in place for their speedy return.
The eco-friendly tags are made of recyclable material, helping to reduce our environmental footprint and eliminating the need for annual tag replacements.
These innovative tags are paired with Doggone's exclusive and secure text reunite service, offering the ultimate in peace of mind. Council is offering this service to dog owners as part of the 2026/2027 dog registration fees. You must register your dog each year for this service to work.
If you opt in, you have a choice between a disc tag or a strap loop tag, like these ones below. We recommend dogs do not wear a metal tag alongside their dog registration tag to prevent any potential rubbing.
Each dog tag has a unique number. Text it to 4133 when you find a lost dog.
You'll immediately receive a secure link to contact the owner.
The owner controls what information is sent via the Doggone app. Your privacy is protected.
Using the Doggone app, dog owners can access a secure profile for their pets.
Owners can update ownership or dog information, including phone numbers – an invaluable tool for times when someone else is caring for your furry friend.
Additionally, the 'Notes for Finder' section allows owners to share vital information about their dog, ensuring appropriate care until it’s reunited. Any changes made through the app take effect instantly.
The app offers reminders for essential tasks such as vaccinations, worming, and even the dog's birthday, helping owners stay on top of their pet's care routine.
