We maintain a range of facilities for Far North residents and visitors, including playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools, walkways and reserves. We also own and maintain toilets, wharves and pontoons, cemeteries, libraries, community halls and housing for the elderly.

Improving our unsealed roads

13 August 2021

Almost two-thirds of the Far North District’s 2508km road network is unsealed. The Council doesn’t have the funds to seal all unsealed roads, so we seal sections of a small number of our busiest roads each year. These are roads that link a high number of homes, schools, marae and other public facilities. Read our monthly Creating Great Places newsletter to find out more.
